So, the talks all over the net and in my office today and
for the past few weeks are the debates and the upcoming Presidential elections.
Now I know I will probably take some heat for my opinion on this but oh well;
the purpose of a blog is just that, to express my opinions. On top of the
chatter regarding the elections you can’t even watch anything on TV without
seeing an advertisement where one candidate is bad-mouthing the other which doesn't seem like that is the best use of the money, time, or energy.
Today I am given even more comfort from Psalm 146:3 which
states, “Don’t depend on your leaders for help. Don’t depend on people, because they cannot save you.” I love this
verse because it brings perspective that we humans do not have things as
figured out as we think we do. All you that are rolling your eyes right now
think about this. There was a time when the smartest and most intelligent people
alive truly believed that the earth was flat. Yet we can go to the Bible and
see that in the book of Isaiah (40:21-22) which was penned approximately 700+
years before Christ that it was known (through divine wisdom) that the earth
is indeed round. Point is, God knows and we don’t. We think we do because we
spent and exorbitant amount of money to get a piece of paper that says we know
something, but in the grand scheme of things, we don’t know a fraction of what
God knows. So why do we act like we do?
So what am I saying? God is God and
all-knowing and in control. This is a fallen world which can only be saved
through Christ. All the candidates and votes will not change things; ONLY God
can do that, yet many in our nation have turned their backs on God but we still
have the audacity to ask why things are they way they are. When I hear all the
chatter and concern over the debates and Presidential Elections I thank God
that He is in control and that His word is true and supersedes everything.
As a true Christian I am so thankful that I
am only called to pray for our leaders (1 Timothy 2:1-3) and nothing more. I
don’t need to hang on every word that comes from Obama or Romney’s mouth or
watch every waking second of news coverage on the political mud-slinging. My strength
and joy comes from the Lord and not this world or the system of this [broken] world. I
still believe that we should be knowledgeable about what is going on but there
is a line that we don’t need to cross and for everyone that line is different. So I pray for the candidates and their
families that they would be surrounded by Godly counsel and that the Lord will
bring revelation and conviction to each of them in a way that will take the scales off their
eyes.

Take Care and God bless,

A nice reminder that we are not as big and great as we sometimes think we are.
