Referenced Scriptures: John 9:1-5 MSG, Genesis 3:12-13
Walking down the street, Jesus saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked, "Rabbi, who sinned: this man or his parents, causing him to be born blind?" Jesus said, "You're asking the wrong question. You're looking for someone to blame. There is no such cause-effect here. Look instead for what God can do. (John 9:1-5 MSG)
This is a very interesting look into our human
nature and the nature of God. So in this passage the disciples were walking
with Jesus and they see a blind man ask what caused this man to be blind? How
often do we do this very same thing? We have a very primal need to put blame on
someone or something for any and every circumstance. Eve in the Garden of Eden
blamed the serpent (Gen 3:13), Adam blamed Eve (Gen 3:12), we blame our parents and even at times God for things that happen in
our lives. Why do we look at things through this perspective? Why do we have
such a need to point the finger on someone or something else?
Jesus tries here to show the disciples (and us)
that instead of playing the blame game there is another way. We should look at
every situation and say how can God's name be lifted up? How can God move in
this area? We should look instead for what God can do. We love to
blame someone or something for anything and everything but maybe it's time to
look at things from the perspective of Jesus.
Take Care & God Bless,
