So it definitely feels like it's been a while since I wrote something but for sure its not been for lack of uneventful things taking place. The change and transition of life's road continues and will continue and God is still faithful to speak in the midst of the storms if we are able to stop and listen. This morning I spent some time in the Bible and read though a few portions of scripture but it was during my quiet time (prayer) that I feel God began to speak to me. As many of you may know in 2010 my older brother passed away and in 2012 my Grandpa also. Now although this is a very natural process of life I don't believe it can ever be something that one is truly "ready" for. Now God was faithful and allowed time for repentance and reconciliation with both my Brother, Grandpa & family so we know and hold on to the faith that they may now be in absent in body but are present with Christ (see 2 Corinthians 5:8). Now at the mid-point of 2013 we once again face this transitional life event taking place within our family and although my wife and I have traveled this all-to-familiar road before it still has aspects of newness and uncertainty, but the pain is still very familiar.
I spent time in prayer this morning for all those that are dealing with this back in my wife's hometown and asked that God's peace cover the situation and that somehow through this process we'd all find solace. Almost immediately these lyrics were placed in my Spirit,
"Higher than the mountains that I face stronger than the power of the grave, constant in the trial and the change, one thing…remains. Your love never fails, never gives up, Never runs out on me."
Instantly I felt God was trying to remind me that He still is in control and that even though there seems to be sorrow and despair all around; His love is still there and no matter what, He'll never leave me or forsake me. The good thing is there are multiple scriptures that support this promise (see Deuteronomy 31:8, Deuteronomy 31:6, Hebrews 13:5, Joshua 1:9) and these promises are not specifically just for me but you too.
You see in the trials and life-changing events God is still there and it's during these times that the peace that passes all understanding can be found (see Philippians 4:7). He's right there just waiting for you and I can almost hear Him calling...
"Son, I can help you through this...I can take that unforgiveness you are still holding on to, you weren't designed to carry that for this long."
He calls you too ladies...
"Daughter, I am here and only I can can be all that you need right now. Stop looking to that guy to validate and complete you. I want to show you just how much you mean to me."He is calling and just waiting for you to stop focusing on everything else around you and start focusing on Him. How do I do that you ask? It's easier than you think. Get alone, turn off the cell phones, get off Facebook, grab your dusty Bible (and open it this time), and just start talking to Him. He'll listen and even respond but you have to take the first step. The Bible promises, "if you seek me with all your heart you will find me," (see Jeremiah 29:13). In the eye of the storm that you are currently trying to make it through; have you stopped and just cried out to God? If not, the good news is, it's never too late.
Take care & God bless
